Baptistery

Originally this was the main entrance to the church and was closed when the extensions were made by Bruce and Hay in 1905. After this, the area was used as a Baptistery and the stained glass windows reflect this use with the right hand window showing Jesus being baptised by St. John the Baptist.

The left hand window shows Nicodemus when he came in the dark to ask Jesus what he had to do to be saved. "Unless you are born again of water and the Spirit, you shall not enter the Kingdom of Heaven."

The Spirit is represented by the Dove in the top rose window. At the present time, it is frequently used as a Blessed Sacrament Exposition chapel.
